I'm not sure about you, but this crazy time we are currently living in has changed my perspective a lot. I am now much more appreciative of the time I have on earth and how I spend my time.
At the Stop and Regrow office, one of the things I spend time on is our nutrition program as well as documentation of the research that Dr Nettles undertakes to fully understand the mechanisms that underpin human life and the various diseases that cause us problems.
The biggest take-away from both our research is that what we put into our bodies as fuel, ie: the food we eat, has much more impact on our bodies and our health than most people realize. The other major factor of course is our genetics. These two factors work together to create our human existence. You choose bring in food, and the recipes or genetics you inherited from your parents, turn that food into you. We turn over all the cells in our bodies on a regular basis and its the food we eat that makes those new cells each and every day. One of the biggest take-away's from Dr Nettles research, is that our biochemistry (made from the food we eat) affects not only our hair, but our overall health and well-being.
So how does that relate to Corona virus you might ask? You have probably read about the underlying conditions that increase your risk of complications or death from corona virus - diabetes and heart disease. Both of these are primarily nutrition related diseases. Diabetes comes from a diet too high in carbohydrates and heart disease from too much of the wrong kind of fats - saturated fats.
Interestingly, the more research we do, the more we see people effectively treating cancer with the same kind of diets and nutrition that can turn around and prevent these diseases. This anticancer, optimal health diet is also the same as the nutritional guidelines recommended by Dr Nettles to regrow hair, and now of course also to reduce your risk from corona virus.
And while we are on the subject of cancer, there is one type of cancer that men in particular who are suffering from hair loss should be particularly concerned about - prostate cancer.
The latest study published on the topic (Sept 2016) validates what we have seen in the Stop and Regrow practice - that hair loss is indeed a precursor or indicator of future BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) which leads to prostate cancer. You can read the published study in the Journal of International Trichology here: An observational Study of the Association between Androgenetic Alopecia and Size of the Prostate
Another study back in 2013 found that 50% of men over 60 will get prostate cancer. Whilst we now are generally able to catch and treat it so that the risk of death is pretty low, the side effects from the cancer treatment itself are not something we would choose given the option: incontinence and sexual dysfunction.
So the moral of this article is that if we are one of the 70% of men who have this hereditary hair loss anomaly (like Dr Nettles), then at some point in time you are going to have to rebalance your biochemistry - or if you leave it too late – to treat your enlarged prostate or prostate cancer.
Rather than wait until you have already lost your hair, why not start by preventing both your hair loss and reduce your risk of developing prostate cancer early by 30% or more?
